SpeakLine is a lightweight and very easy-to-use application that uses macOS’ Text to Speech abilities to read text snippets using different voices.
Furthermore, SpeakLine comes with a clean and intuitive interface that provides you access to a wide variety of voices, which you can use to read all sorts of text messages.
Simple tool for converting any text to an audio file with a mouse click
In SpeakLine’s left panel you can type or paste your text fragments while the Voices panel helps you choose the voice you want to use for the reading.
The bottom toolbar enables you to start or stop the reading process and access the list with all saved text snippets. From the Saved Texts slide sheet, you can view all saved texts, sort them in ascending or descending order and add or delete an entry.
Preview the resulting audio file at a custom volume level of your choice
You can have SpeakLine read your text using the system voices or one of the fun voices provided by your version of macOS and, in addition, you can export the audio version of your text right from SpeakLine with just a few mouse clicks.
To do that, you only have to open SpeakLine’s Export menu, select the “..As Audio File” option, name your file and set the destination path.
Moreover, via the Preferences drop-down sheet, you can easily and effortlessly adjust the Speaking Rate to the desired Words per Minute value. On top of that, you can change the volume level by simply dragging the slider to the right or left end of the bar.
